Roots Series at Decatur Yoga and Pilates

FB ROOTS EVENTThis series is being repeated by overwhelming demand and I am not exaggerating. My fabulous students drove me crazy until we convinced Debra at Decatur Yoga and Pilates to do another one. We have had tremendous results the first time, people got strong, lost weight and had injuries healed from working with strong therapeutic alignment principles.

This from Elena, “I started the three weeks and I could barely walk, with sciatica, SI joint coming out of alignment and spasms in between my shoulder blades. It took about one week. By week two the pain was gone! Now, as soon as I feel things getting off again I do a few poses and I feel better again. Angel wings is my new favorite word!”

This series is designed to create a significant shift in the students practice and energy by the end of 2 weeks. It will incorporate therapeutic principles of alignment to open the body in a balanced way, to help alleviate imbalances in the nervous system and to realign the healthy curves of the low back and neck to get one’s energy moving in optimal flow and healthy pulsation. We will specifically work on opening up the hips and shoulders in each pose to create an overall improvement of postural alignment on and off the mat.

We also add an additional component of eating high vibrational foods to ensure mazimum amount of transformation. This of course is clearly optional yet encouraged. A key to our success is that we  practice together daily as a community to support each other in discipline of body and mind.

2 Weeks: March 4-15
5 Days a Week, Monday – Friday
7:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Investment: $100
Auto-Renew Members: $30

This is a series, no drop-ins.

Classes will build on each other and be held in our hot room. The room will be warm, not hot as we will build internal heat by going deep.

Join Isvari Verre E-RYT 500 and Cheryl Crawford E-RYT 500, 2 of the most highly trained yoga teachers in Atlanta, for this 6-week mentoring program for yoga teachers with 200 hour certification from any style of yoga and help take your teaching to the next level.
This course will offer teaching training modules on alignment, sequencing, yoga therapy, hands-on-adjustments, theming and what to look for in your students poses to allow them to step more fully into their potential. We will also touch upon taking the seat of the teacher and connecting to your students. All classes will include an advanced practice.

This 6 weeks series is at Yoga Collective and the cost for the series is $108. Begins Jan 25 for 6 consecutive Fridays.
Earns CE credit with Yoga Alliance.

I am really excited about this 3 weeks series that I am offering at Decatur Yoga and Pilates beginning January 14. It is 7:15 am M-F for 3 weeks straight.

This series is designed to create a significant shift in the students practice and energy by the end of 3 weeks. It will incorporate therapeutic principles of alignment to open the body in a balanced way, to help alleviate imbalances in the nervous system and to realign the healthy curves of the low back and neck to get one’s energy moving in optimal flow and healthy pulsation. We will specifically work on opening up the hips and shoulders in each pose to create an overall improvement of postural alignment on and off the mat.

To detox from the Holiday splurges, there will be an additional optional practice of a gluten free diet for the duration of the series to ensure remarkable results in your physical body as well as your energy level. We will practice as a community to support each other in discipline of body and mind as we move forward together into 2013.

Meet the Poses

Photo Shoot_Aug2010_4 387This 5 week series was so popular last time that I had to bring it back by popular demand. This series explores the individual classes of yoga asana with a different class of poses each week. We will look at in depth: standing poses, inversions, arm balances, back bends, forward bends, hip openers and twists. Learn optimal alignment in poses you are already doing so you can learn poses that – up until now- you never thought you could do.

Standing Poses are the most fundamental class of postures. Proper alignment is most easily learned through standing poses. They teach us to be grounded in our stance and to hug into our center and then extend out. They teach us how to bring our inner thighs back and apart and how to scoop our tailbone. When alignment is understood fully in standing poses, it provides us with all we need to know to be able to do all classes of asana. To know forward bends is to love them. Learn how to stop doing them like you are doing a back bend and accept them fully for what they are. Do you know that hip openers done out of alignment will indeed make your hips tighter? Feel what it really feels like to open your hips. And come enjoy the pure bliss of back bends when your shoulder blades are plugged in and you lead from the back body. Find freedom in twists when you learn to create space and discover first hand why arm balances are hip openers and should more aptly be called “leg squeezers”. Experience how by treating your side planks and upward dogs as standing poses, you will see stars. And learn how to make every pose therapeutic. Make friends with yoga poses like you never have before.

Alignment Basics Class

This new weekly class is at Decatur Yoga and Pilates on Sundays at 9 am.  A safe and joyous yoga practice begins with sound knowledge. Join us to learn how to build a safe posture from the inside out. We will break down important alignment techniques for popular poses that are taught in every class, and learn alignment principles and actions that can be incorporated into every pose, resulting in more freedom in your body. If you feel a tweak in a posture, it simply means there is a more conscious choice to be made. Learn how to empower your practice and your life with skilled technique to help you find more enjoyment and opening in your movement. Designed for brand new students and others that want to refine their practice. Common misalignment’s will be addressed as well as basic injuries.
